Every puzzle starts with a mystery number. Your task is to discover it from the clues shown on the screen.

A clue might tell you that the number is odd, that a particular digit appears in the tens or hundreds place, that the digits add up to a certain total, or that the number falls within a specific range.

Read all the clues before making your guess. One clue may leave many possibilities, but several clues together can lead you to a single answer.

Choose a Difficulty Level

The game includes three number ranges. This makes it possible to start with simple two-digit puzzles and move on to more challenging three- and four-digit numbers.

• Level 1 – Two-digit numbers (10–99): Work with tens and ones and solve clues involving ranges, odd and even numbers, digit values, and simple digit sums.
• Level 2 – Three-digit numbers (100–999): Add hundreds-place clues and more possible combinations. You will often need to use several clues together before the answer becomes clear.
• Level 3 – Four-digit numbers (1000–9999): Solve longer number riddles involving thousands, hundreds, tens, ones, multiples, digit relationships, and narrower number ranges.

What Types of Clues Are Used?

Guess the Number puzzles can use several kinds of mathematical clues. Understanding what each clue tells you makes solving the puzzle much easier.

• Number range: The hidden number may be greater than one number and less than another.
• Odd or even: Knowing whether the answer is odd or even immediately eliminates many possibilities.
• Place value: A clue may reveal the ones, tens, hundreds, or thousands digit.
• Digit sum: You may need to find a number whose digits add up to a given value.
• Multiples: Some puzzles can tell you that the number is divisible by or a multiple of another number.
• Digit relationships: One digit may be larger, smaller, or related mathematically to another digit.

Example Guess the Number Puzzle

Suppose you are looking for a three-digit number and receive these clues:

• The number is between 400 and 500.
• It is an even number.
• The tens digit is 3.
• The digits add up to 11.

The hundreds digit must be 4 and the tens digit must be 3. That gives us 43_. Because the digits must add up to 11, the final digit must be 4:

4 + 3 + 4 = 11

The hidden number is therefore 434. It also satisfies the final condition because 434 is even.

This is the main idea behind the game: each clue removes possibilities until only one number remains.

Tips for Solving Guess the Number Puzzles

• Begin with the range. A clue such as “greater than 450 but less than 500” can eliminate hundreds of possible numbers immediately.
• Write down known digits. If you already know that the hundreds digit is 6, think of the number as 6__ while you solve the remaining clues.
• Use odd and even clues early. The last digit tells you whether a whole number is odd or even.
• Check the digit sum. Add the known digits first and calculate how much is missing from the required total.
• Combine clues. A single clue rarely gives the answer. The solution comes from finding a number that satisfies every clue at the same time.
• Use greater-than and less-than information to narrow the range. When you learn that your guess is too high or too low, you can remove part of the remaining number range.
